Octagon Hall Museum-Franklin, Kentucky

Nestled in the heart of Franklin, Kentucky, Octagon Hall is a striking eight-sided antebellum home built in 1847 by Andrew Jackson Caldwell, and one of the few remaining octagonal brick houses in the United States.

During the Civil War, it served as a hospital for both Confederate and Union soldiers. The grounds hold a mass grave of soldiers, the graves of many children, and a slave cemetery, layers of history that are impossible to ignore. Today it stands as a museum and archive, but many believe the past never left. It’s widely known as one of the most haunted locations in the South.

There’s a heaviness here… a quiet that says more than words ever could. I tried to capture not just what it looks like, but what it feels like.
